Be careful about tipping

As the evening draws to a close, the waiter arrives and you want to pay. Everyone wants to leave as soon as possible at this point, so there is no need to continue sitting around wasting time. After reading this article, you will leave any customer service establishment with a sense of caution.
Two inspectors who were tipped off went to one cafe and placed two orders there. One order was placed in Englishand the other in Czech. The Czech-speaking consumer did not tip, while the English-speaking consumer\’s price was CZK 210instead of CZK 190. The difference was CZK 20, and the receipts showed that tipping was still encouraged. This is not discrimination, but a so-called malicious charge.

The law is not circumvented

The Czech Trade Inspection found that these amounts were charged as a service. Unfortunately, customers are not informedin advance of these terms. CCI assessed this as a violation of theConsumer Protection Act. Sellers are obligated to sell their products atpricesthat complywith price regulationsand to account for them correctly. For such violations of the law, the CTIA will initiate administrativeproceedings
against the seller. A fine [47] of up to [48] 5 million CZK [49] will be imposed [50] for such acts as described in the article. A similar case was dealt with last year when there was a difference in price. In that case, a 10% service item was addedto the priceof the food and beverage consumed. Interestingly, this fee was not chargedto Czech consumers . These and other similar cases occurred primarily in Prague and Karlovy Vary. If you encounter such practices in your business, do not hesitate to contact the CRA to have your businessinvestigated
